Trump’s Carrot-and-Stick Middle East Policy

President Donald Trump’s recent firing of his national security advisor John Bolton (or acceptance of Bolton’s resignation) has raised speculation that the Trump administration is changing course on foreign policy and security. Some pundits have suggested that the White House could be in the process of softening its positions in the Middle East in general and toward Iran in particular.
